Privacy Invasion Worries?
The Controversial Directory of Mobile Phone Numbers went live on June 16th.
Connectivity the company that runs the service has acquired millions of mobile numbers. A user can call the 118 800 service and ask for a connection by giving a name and location. Connectivity then contact that person, who can decide whether to accept the call. The service also works through their website (118800.co.uk) - this time the intended recipient is sent a text with details so they can call back if they want.
Critics, including MPs, worry that the service is an invasion of privacy, particularly since many of the phone numbers belong to children. But if anyone is concerned they can request their number's removal from Connectivity's database, ensuring they don't receive any unwanted calls. Visit the following web page to do this:

NATT becomes NATT+
At the AGM on May 17th 2008, NATT was renamed NATT+ (pronounced NATT plus).
The full title being, The National Association of Teachers of Travellers and Other Professionals. This is to reflect that even though education is paramount - and we must never lose this focus - the association is trying to update and reach out to those professionals other than teachers involved in the education of Gypsy Roma and Travellers. It may take the association some time to make necessary adjustments e.g. the bank account and logo. For this we request your patience. At the moment membership cheques should still be made payable to NATT until otherwise stated. At the AGM the constitution was amended.
