My Big Fat Gypsy Council House

I heard about this on the radio this morning on my way to work and my heart sank although I can't say I'm surprised. This whole big fat gypsy nonsense is going to run and run! I'm dreading the programme tomorrow night, our site manager is going to be featured quite heavily, I think I will have to tell him what I really think of the programme when I next see him.

The Irish Traveller actor and

The Irish Traveller actor and writer, Michael Collins wrote a play about these kind of disputes. Called "Mobile" it was a one-man show. Lengthy excerpts of the play can be seen on the DVD "The First Traveller" from the Gypsy Roma Traveller Achievement Service in Leeds. Available in the eShop of course!

Positive comments from Daily Mail Readers!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1355206/My-Big-Fat-Gypsy-Weddings-C4-travellers-laughing-stock.html

Just reading some of the comments under the article - amazing, some are really positive from the general public - saying their perceptions had changed etc.

This time last month there would have been none of these sort of comments on any story which mentioned Gypsies, it was 99% racial hatred.

So it would seem whether or not you like the programme  it is actually having some sort of positive effect on some of the general public out there!

The Channel 4 Programme

Have had very positive comments from colleagues at the University where I work, quite a few are looking forward to next weeks episode.  Also seems to have raised profile of the fact that it is not an easy life for some.
