Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month June 2011
GRTHM is now in it’s 4th year and getting stronger. Over the previous two years the GRTHM was given a grant by the then Department for Children, Schools and Families to establish the month in England with schools, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities and the general public. This grant has now ended.
NATT+ is continuing to promote the GRTHM with schools and educational settings by running a GRTHM competition. This year's competition is inviting children and young people, from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 4, to submit a piece of work, a story, poem, painting, photograph, art work, song or piece of music that captures ‘A moment in time’ of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller history or culture.

In addition to this NATT+ has produced an A4 book giving schools and educational settings a taste of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller history and culture, containing ideas for use in the classroom and signposting to further information and resources. This will be in nominated schools, TESs and with NATT+ members by the middle of the first full week in June. There will be additional books available on a first-come basis. We are delighted that we are able to offer this valuable resource free of charge.
This is the time in the year when we can all celebrate the fantastic achievements, talent and skills found within the GRT communities and therefore wish you all a great GRTHM.
