Tiffany's winning entry in the 2018 Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month competition

Tiffany’s winning entry

This year’s Gypsy, Roma, Traveller History Month competition has been judged!

After a difficult process, the judging panel (of 3 Roma and 2 non-Roma) are pleased to announce that the overall winner of this year’s competition is:

Tiffany who attends Hurst Green Primary School in Etchingham

The whole judging panel instantly liked her piece which was entered in the Key Stage 2 category. We particularly liked the repetitive refrain ‘Just like you’.

We had amazing entries again. There was a lot of really interesting writing explaining what My Community and Yours meant; personal stories, poems, children’s own drawings and some lovely artwork. The entries included a lot of whole class work showing everyone was thinking about the theme which was great to see and there were several group entries.

This year we also selected a group winner as we had a lot of group entries. The winner is the Key Stage 1 entry from Harefield Infant School is work that was done over 4 weeks with a Traveller Family Group of parents and children working together.
